Evaluation of the effectiveness of mastitis tests for the diagnosis of subclinical mastitis in cows

Abstract

Laboratory studies have established that out of 226 lactating cows, 62 cows were diagnosed with subclinical mastitis by counting somatic cells, which is 27.43%. Similar results were found out when using Testmastin, Somatest and SMT Somatic Test. Application of the Cenotest made it possible to detect subclinical mastitis in 61 cows (26.99%) and the accuracy of the test compared to the calculation of somatic cells, which is the most accurate of the existing methods, was 98.39%. AF Masttest revealed subclinical mastitis only in 51 cows (22.57%), and its accuracy did not exceed 82.26%, which is 17.74% lower compared to Testmastin, Somatest, SMT Somatic test, somatic cell count and Cenotest - by 1.61%.
